As transportation modes increased in speed and availability in central Illinois, Springfield and its environs changed dramatically. Commerce was the early driver that brought us flatboats, nearly a dozen railroads, city busses and airplane connections to global destinations. The Route 66 connection to cities far and wide provide residents with greater opportunities here and abroad.

Join us for this special Bicentennial presentation as we explore how transportation shaped our city and the communities around us.
